President Trump is weighing in on Cracker Barrel's new logo. Trump says Cracker Barrel should go back to its old logo after facing blowback for the new design. Meanwhile, Cracker Barrel's stock jumped as much as 6 .3 % following Trump's comments. Shares sank last week after posts flooded social media, chastising the logo change, which only included the words cracker barrel and eliminated the image of an old -timer leaning against a barrel. Critics say the new logo strips the chain of its history and character. Meanwhile, the president also today stepped up his attacks to control the Federal Reserve. Trump says he fired Fed Governor Lisa Cook in a social media post.

Cracker Barrel Sample Report Talk 08/26/2025 WEEU-AM Philadelphia 11:10 EDT Click for Audio / Transcript
Speaker 1:

you in favor of? If you're familiar with Cracker Barrel, do you like the old logo and wanted to keep that, uh, that look for the company or do you agree with the CEO and their marketing people that, uh, that went with a more modern look to their company's logo? I think clearly it's a company's decision to make and they have every right to make the decision as to whether they want to keep the logo or not. Uh, But the whole thing of turning it into a news story, whose news cycle has been going on for several days now, I find ridiculous, to be honest with you. I don't know, maybe I need to go back on vacation, but let me know, I'd love to hear what you have to say, 610 -374 -8800 is the number. Here's something else that I'm trying to understand why the president is doing this. Why does he feel, not only does he have to rename the Gulf of Mexico, the Gulf of America, and get angry with any news organization that refuses to go along with the name Gulf of America, but now he's not happy with the Department of Defense name. He wants to go back to what it once was called until Harry Truman changed it to the name it is today. He wants to change it back to the Department of War. This from a man who doesn't like war. In fact, he's trying to get us out of, or try to get certain companies, countries rather, out of conflicts. And he's talking about changing the name of this department, reverting it back to the Department of War. Here's what the Hill writes on this. President Trump indicated yesterday that he could move soon to rename the Department of Defense as the Department of War. He's quoted as saying, Pete Hegseth has been incredible with the, as I call it, the Department of War. You know, we call it the Department of Defense, but between us, I think we're going to change the name. Trump said this during a meeting with South Korea's president yesterday. He added, you want to know the truth? I think we're going to have some information on that maybe soon. Trump argued it was called the Department of War during US victories in World War I and World War II. He said, defense is a part of that, but I have a feeling we're going to be changing. Everybody likes that. We had an unbelievable history of victory when it was Department of War. Now, I guess when he says everybody likes that, he says everybody likes change. We'll go back to the Cracker Barrel logo situation. Not everybody is happy with change. But the Department of War was established by George Washington in 1789. It existed until 1947 when it was reorganized by then President Harry Truman. It was renamed the Department of Defense in 1949. Trump has previously referred to Hegseth as Secretary of War. The President has also touted that military recruitment numbers are up during his second term so far. He's right about that. And I think that could be because many recruits, not only recruits in the military, but look at the large number of people who have wanted to be hired by ICE to become ICE agents. Police departments are also seeing an influx of recruits. And I think it's because they're finally seeing that in the White House they have somebody who is against crime, wants to see crime come down, wants to see it obliterated. But do we really want to see the Department of Defense to become known as the Department of War again? All right, let's go to the phones. We've got some people who want to talk about various things here. Let's start with Shwenksville, Montgomery County and talk with Sue. Sue, good morning, welcome to Feedback.

Speaker 2:

Good morning, well you've touched down a lot of nerves today so it's hard to limit myself but you know this Cracker Barrel thing I don't think it's an overreaction people are sick of wokeism you know change just for the changes sake makes no sense at all and the thing about Cracker Barrel is the whole their whole stick is oh this is how it used to be you know the old country store and I you know that's what people they knew what they were going to get when they go I'm surprised they don't just change the name to barrel because they removed the cracker and they removed You know and they remove the barrel is from the logo

Speaker 1:

Well, how is, how is, how is that wokeism?

Speaker 2:

because of the whole cracker thing. Maybe move the old white guy from the logo, the cracker, you know. Southern white people were no oppressors.

Speaker 1:

Isn't that a stretch?

Speaker 2:

No, not at all. I don't think so. Look what they did to Dunkin Donuts. Now it's just called Dunkin. Dunkin what? It doesn't even make sense without the donuts. You know what I'm saying? I mean, Dunkin what? What are you Dunkin?

Speaker 1:

I'm not, I'm not, I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing with you on that one. Oh, why -

Speaker 2:

Oh, I know and I mean look at I don't know how many names I've seen and I'm sure you've seen them, too Where uncle Ben and Aunt Jemima and the Lando Lake Indian maiden are all standing there saying you what happened to us? You know, I mean and going so far as to you know change The name of the Cleveland Indians to the whatever guardians

Speaker 1:

Well, now those last couple of examples, I agree with you, that is woke -ism, but just to change a logo to say Cracker Barrel without any other images on it, to me, I don't see where woke -ism comes into play there.

Speaker 2:

Well, they changed the inside of the store too, from what I was hearing. People who go there a lot, they're saying they just totally removed all of the pictures, the old pictures. I don't know if they've ever gone to the Cracker Barrel, but it's very folksy and old -timey and people like that. And if that's your whole identity in the marketplace that distinguishes you from other fast food know eateries that are the same all over the country you know she's just destroying the brands the niche that the brand has I think and it's interesting that all of these CEOs that are doing these massive changes the logos logos and are all women and I could go further about what kind of women they are but I'm not going to but you know I'm just saying it's just funny that some people when they get in place just like Disney look what happened to Disney look what to the Disney brand. I was a woman that took over that too and it became all woke stuff all the time and why they're losing all this market share and stuff. I don't know I just think that people want some stuff to stay the same. Just changing things for the sake of changing it or updating it it doesn't make sense and if you've looked at their stock performance you can see that the market is responding to it in a negative way.

Speaker 1:

Oh, yeah, I see that and maybe it's just me. I mean, I'm into modern looks. I'm not into seeing things stay the same just for the sake of keeping it the same as it's looked for many, many years. And I have been to a Cracker Barrel, one in Lancaster I used to go to quite a bit when I worked in that area. So I am familiar with the inside of the store and, uh, and their whole image that they, uh, that they presented, um, to me.

Cracker Barrel Sample Report Talk 08/27/2025 WTKS-AM Savannah 06:38 EDT Click for Audio / Transcript
Speaker 1:

In fact, this note from one of our astutes with Cracker Barrel, I think we're becoming like the left. I get it if they did it for wellness, but if they were just trying to freshen up the place, we were becoming the left and forcing companies to do things. I think there's something there. I think there's something there. But let me also say this, companies should be there to serve their customers. Their customer base is an overwhelmingly conservative customer base and it has been. And there have been attempts to denigrate the place because their customer base is overwhelmingly conservative. Same thing with Chick -fil -A. Same thing with Chick -fil -A. Conservatives have generally speaking not held a lot of cultural pull. and I think that's why you see a lot of them really making an issue out of this because it's an area and an instance and an opportunity where they actually have had a chance to have pull in a cultural discussion and again you can right or wrong that but I think that's probably where a lot of that comes from and and again it's their place they want to go You say I get if they did it for wellness. That's great, because that would have been interesting. It would have been interesting if Cracker Barrel had come down and said, yes, we feed you these traditional home comfort foods that we know you know and love, but unfortunately, it's not very good for you. Therefore, we're gonna start giving you arugula and.

Cracker Barrel Sample Report Talk 08/27/2025 WTKS-AM Savannah 06:10 EDT Click for Audio / Transcript
Speaker 1:

What am I talking about? Well, Cracker Barrel! They reversed course! Cracker Barrel has reversed courses restoring their old logo. Now, what I've noticed is when they made their statement, yeah, we're bringing the logo back. after you know the clip art logo didn't work out does anybody ever use the word clip art anymore does clip art exist as a thing anymore come on we got graphic designers out there is clip art actually even a word people use anymore maybe you could go buy the like an 87 cd pack of 5 000 clip arts i'm not 87 cds clip arts are tiny but uh you buy thousands and thousands of clip arts uh you don't really see clip art anymore but that's kind of or one of those logo generators, but it wasn't even good enough to be like one of the AI logo generations. It was that far down. Anyway, they're bringing back. the Cracker Barrel logo, the traditional Cracker Barrel logo. Now the interesting thing is I haven't heard a word about the remodels. And I feel like they're they're making like a sacrifice. They're going, oh, well, we'll sacrifice the logo, but we're going to keep the remodels, you know, where everything looks like it came out of the Magnolia catalog. And I thought the conservatives were canceling the. Oh, what's their names? You know what I'm talking about? Redhead, a guy and the Indian chick, what's their names? Oh, I don't know why I can't remember the names right now, but that says something about my age, I guess, but Yeah, Chip and Joanna Gaines. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah, everything looks like the new Cracker Barrel remodel looks like a Chip and Joanna Gaines joint but Oh, am I supposed to make a land acknowledgement before we go on the air? Is that right? I I don't know who I'll say this the the land was formerly owned by the Rollins, uh, maybe 30 years ago so I'll say that. And we acknowledge that they did own this at one point and they don't now. How's that? Is that good? Is that a good land acknowledgement for the start? Okay, just wanted to make sure. We definitely want to recognize them because they put us a lot where we were. Anyway, anyway, put us where we are, I should say, in a lot of ways. So Cracker Barrel has changed, their logo back. I don't really consider this a full victory though because, again, one, I've heard nothing about the remodels, which are the really bad part about it. The logo's terrible, but the remodels are just, oof. And then two, if this is really going to be... A real victory. Well, you got to hang on a second. Unless concerned about Cracker Barrel logo and more concerned with the interior and the food. Well, yeah, yeah, the, the, uh, well, I'm not concerned with the food. I think the food is fine. I have no problem with the Cracker Barrel food. Um, but I'll say this, I don't think it's a real victory for anybody until they bring back the smoking section. I mean, if we're going to go back to old school Cracker Barrel as it is known and loved, then I think we got to bring the smoking section back. The smoking section was the best in Cracker Barrel because, you know, they had those little little fancy walls between the two sections with the giant holes in them. And then eventually they figured out there might be a little bit of an issue. And they stuck like plexiglass in there, even though everything else was wide open. I always loved that. And I really think we don't get Cracker Barrel back in earnest until we bring the smoking section back. And then once we do that, I think we're gonna be in good shape. Now, while we were busy. While we were busy fighting for the Cracker Barrel logo restoration, Howard Lutnick... has now said that after, and this is what I was talking about yesterday, Howard Lutnick, again, tariff boy. He's the mastermind behind Trump's tariffs. He's also the guy who went and seized 10 % of Intel for the government. So the government is now holding onto the means of production. Which I think there's an S -word that is closely affiliated with that, and I'm trying to think what that is. Anyway, the single largest shareholder of Intel is the U .S. government as soon as this deal is official and goes through. There's some S -word, and I guess really what they're saying to us is that it just hasn't been done right yet, and so that's why they need to do that. Anyway, Lutnik has gone out during this battle and announced that we're going to let 600 ,000 Chinese communist elites come here and go to college. And the reasoning is that if we don't, the colleges will go bankrupt. And once again, we have to sit down and say to ourselves, if there is a component of our economy that is not working and the solution is to import 600 ,000 elite communists to fill it and give it business, then it should probably fail. Now, the weird thing is, as a culture, and you know this because this conversation's been had on the air a lot of times. As a culture, we've been trying to tell people for a long time, you don't have to go to college. Like, we've been talking, that's been a thing that even the educational establishment has, you know, been kind of pushing people more towards the trades and that kind of thing and saying, you know, college isn't for everybody. So people started responding to that and going, yes, college isn't for everybody. In fact, this person right here, probably college isn't for this person, and so they're not going to college. And now we've got to import 600 ,000 elite Chinese communists to attend our colleges and universities or else the smaller colleges and universities will go belly up. And again, as I say, this is in actual market economics, that is an opportunity where you say if they have to have that kind of price support, then they should fail. I'm sorry to say that, but it's true. That's Howard Lutnick. Now, Howard Lutnick, as we're fighting the Cracker Barrel battle, has now also said, you know that 10 % stake we took in Intel making ourselves the largest shareholder in a large chip -making company? By the way, not the best chip -making company out there anymore. No, it's kind of like going, it's kind of like in 2025, going I'm gonna invest massive shares in Starter. You know, the athletic clothing brand, huge brand in 1992. But now it's kind of a Walmart sub brand. Yeah, let's go, let's go invest heavily in starter. Huh, what do you think, huh? That Emmett Smith endorsement deal should really be bringing them a lot of bucks right now. But I digress. Howard Lutnick has now said that the federal government is interested in... taking part ownership in defense companies. And I've been telling you for months, Howard Lutnick must go. Howard Lutnick has some really terrible ideas. Howard Lutnick seems to be, and by the way, he also said at a meeting this week that the taking over of the largest single stake in Intel is capitalism, not socialism. Again, Howard Lutnick doesn't seem to understand economics. But Howard Lotnick believes that we should now be taking some stake in some defense companies. Now let me ask you something. You guys, because I know a lot of people supported Trump because Trump is opposed to all of the wars everywhere. And you hear the phrase, endless war used a bunch. If you now have a large stake in a company and it is incumbent upon you to make sure that this company is profitable, how is that going to happen? Especially if you have the means of making war. I wonder I'll have to think about that for a little bit, because I'm not really sure, but I think it may have something to do with going out and starting wars, or at least going out and getting involved in wars. There are just a lot of really bad ideas happening right now, but hey, hey, that's okay, because we got Cracker Barrel changed. And look, you can't have everything, where would you put it, right?
